My month of reading books in translation was surprisingly productive up until the middle of the month, when I fell ill at the same time as my plans to move cities in January fell apart. It took me a week to fully recover, which ate up a lot of my free time.
Next year I’m excited to participate in the Historical Fiction Reading Challenge, hosted by Amy at Pages to the Past.

— Jeanette Winterson, Written on the Body
With the start of fall, I’ll begin my turn toward fiction with some of my most anticipated reads of the season, including Roxane Gay’s Ayiti and Ling Ma’s Severance.
